blogworthy.

All day yesterday things kept happening after which i would say, "i'm gonna have to put that on my blog!" here are my two favorite:

our adventure began as we searched for an ATM and a bank where we could exchange large bills for small ones. The three of us (Ariana, Chris, y yo) tried 3 different banks and never were able to change the bills. probs because every time i asked, i used the word for exchanging foreign currency. After a few tries, Ariana was able to get money from an ATM, but not before we had to try to explain to the bank man in Spanish that the money didn't come out after the transaction. It all worked out eventually...turns out you're supposed to withdraw from your checking account rather than your savings account...haha

as we were walking down the street...completely loaded with cash and carrying our passports because we had just come from applying for our chilean IDs (yes, we are chilean now)...we ran into a fellow gringo from our group, Ryan. He wanted to go into a guitar store and ask about ukulele. after 30 awkward seconds of trying to figure out how to describe a ukulele in our limited vocabulary, the guy behind the cash register says, "don't worry. i speak english." we all laugh. nice one, chileno.

also achieved in that day? i correctly answered a chilean when he asked me what a certain idiomatic phrase meant (thanks to Danika for randomly having told me earlier in the day). failures? didn't correclty order my completo...it came with saurkraut and mayo. gross. also got somewhat lost, but we found our way back eventually! I'm starting to feel a tad more confident here :)
