todos juntos

Something I really appreciate about Chile? That it's not so individualistic as the US. You don't need your own car, you take public transportation with everybody else. You don't go to the store by yourself, you take a friend or family member with you--even though you have to pay for public transportation. When someone is leaving for a trip, the whole family goes to see them off. When someone needs to go to the hospital, anyone in the house at the time goes along. Not only do they go along, they wait the entire 6 hours until the la enferma is released.

Of course we have some times of this in the States, but it's not the norm. At least not in my experience. Sometimes it's a little weird here and I feel bad for inconveniencing people...but then I remember that this culture is different and they don't feel inconvenienced at all!
