I got my hair cut!
It was getting way too long and in the way. Also, since shampoo here is a tad expensive, I really didn't want to have to keep using half the bottle every time I washed it :p

I asked my hostmom where the best place to go is. She said she knew a lady so she'd accompany me and we'd get it cut for a good price. Before I went I looked up pelucaria vocabulary so I would be able to explain that I wanted it thinned and a layer at the end because no me gusta pelo como un triangulo! The lady seemed to understand what I wanted as she started hacking away at my long locks. Everybody in the store commented on the color. They called it rubia which means blond. Personally if you're not gonna call me a redhead, I think it makes more sense to say I have brown hair than blond...but whatever. "es como oro!" they would say. "que hermoso! es natural, cierto?" yes. it's natural, thanks!
If you think haircuts take too long in the US, try getting one in Latin America! It is completely normal for the hairdresser's kids to be in the shop and need help with their homework in the middle of your cut. It is completely normal for one of her friends to stop by and distract her with busybody talk while she hacks away at your hair--more like while she holds your hair in one hand and waves her scissors around with the other. I actually really enjoy the slow speed of things here so it didn't bother me a bit. I enjoyed listening to them talk about their lives.
