I rarely blog anymore.
I miss it.
Blogging is like journaling except better because you have an audience (small audiences still count!).
I miss how writing helps me process life.
I must make more time in my schedule to write.
Less Facebook, more blogging.
I said writing helps me process. But since I haven't been writing much recently, I've just been going through the motions without really thinking about why I'm doing what I'm doing or where I'm trying to get (beyond my bed each night). homework? check. hungry? cook. dirty? clean. husband? love. Thrive? lead. but who do I want to be 5 years from now? How am I going to become her by what I do today? What am I contributing to the people in my communities? How can I improve the ways I serve? Are my relationships beneficial or superficial? Which relationships are ones I should invest in more? What pointless things am I doing that take my time away from investing in things that matter? How am I learning more and growing closer to God?
Okay, I'm feeling a little overwhelmed.
We did a cool exercise in my Group Dynamics class that helped me to see what I believe about myself and what is most important in my life. It's simple. Write the words "I am" at the top of a blank piece of paper. Now come up with as many things as you can to finish that sentence (a minimum of 20). It can be one word or several, nouns, verbs, adjectives, etc. Because we were focusing on groups, my teacher asked us to especially focus on roles we play in groups, but I think this will work even without a specific focus. Once you have your list, rank your responses in order of what is most important to you.
Here are some of my high scoring attributes:
- married/a wife
- an example
- a Christ-follower
- cheerful
- an encourager
Now it would be interesting to keep track of how I spend my time each day and see if I'm investing in the things that I say are important to me. I tried that a few weeks ago. I did it for 3/4 of one day before quitting because I got tired of taking the time to record my actions for each hour. Maybe I'll try it again.

That's an interesting exercise...perhaps I should try it too. :)
