It's Throwback Thursday!
Here's me snuggling my two puffies and dreaming beautiful dreams at Grammy and Grandpa's house in OH. That crib was one of my favorite places. Don't ask me where they made my baby brother sleep while I hogged the crib!

And here's the same crib sitting in our baby's nursery waiting for her arrival!
I know drop-down cribs and bumpers are not approved by the Safe Sleep campaign. I teach a Safe Sleep class at work! In Spanish. Confession: I don't know the word for "bumpers" in Spanish. Do as I say, not as I do.
I love my heritage and I'm all about passing things on. This crib was first used by my Grammy's aunt. My dad slept in this crib. I slept in this crib. My baby is going to sleep in this crib. All you safety freaks, try not to worry too much-- we did permanently attach the one side so it can no longer drop down.
This baby is due in just 6 weeks! It's becoming so real! I Googled a list of what to pack in your hospital bag. I figure that's a good start. Someday I'll actually start packing. I hate packing. I did buy a night gown from Salvation Army yesterday (gotta love 50% off Wednesdays!) that I plan to wear during delivery. I don't want all that crap getting all over my clothes! And those hospital gowns are awful. I know people say I'm not going to care what I'm wearing at that point...but I really think I will. And what I want to wear is that semi-ugly, flowery robe from Salvation Army. Don't argue with a pregnant woman who's made up her mind!
I have a few questions:
ReplyDelete1. What are bumpers?
2. How did you get the mattress so much higher? Multiple mattresses?
3. Hospitals actually let you wear your own clothes?! Not that I ever had a need to know, but I just assumed that you had to wear their gowns. Interesting.
4. (Not so much a question as an exclamation). SIX WEEKS! Seriously, I can't believe it.
1. bumpers are the cloth things that go around the perimeter of the crib. to keep baby from "bumping" her head. they're a suffocation risk.
Delete2. The bottom of the crib can be raised and lowered. pretty sure that's normal?
3. not normally, but they know better than to mess with pregnant women! i'm actually not positive, but in the labor videos we watched, the girls were wearing their own clothes
4. me. neither.
