Things that have graced my baby's head today: baby oil, pb&j crumbs, drool. The pb&j was due to me using the baby as a plate during lunch time. The baby oil was part of a successful attempt to remove some scaly skin (possibly cradle cap?). And the drool was a result of too little sleep the past few days.
Since the house was a balmy 80 degrees (thank you, wood stove) I decided it was a good day to bathe the tiny tyke. 42 seconds into the bath, she decided it was not a good day after all. Being the nice mom that I am, I only let her scream bloody murder for another 42 seconds before I picked up her soaked self and cuddled her close (someone should invent a shirt-towel-smock that can be worn while bathing babies and then transferred to the baby when bath time is over). We finished up with a wet washcloth in front of the wood stove where she couldn't possibly be cold and where my shirt could dry. No sooner had I patted her dry when I felt a warm wetness seeping down my pants. My bladder is NOT that weak. Hers is.
It was laundry day anyway.
Payback came during our afternoon nap in the form of a second shampooing of sorts. I woke up to find the peach-fuzzy hair on the top of her head marinading in a pool of drool. It was not the first time; I doubt it will be the last. Unless she starts sleeping through the night or I stop cuddling her while we nap - neither of which do I see happening any time soon.
Cradle cap treatment:
- rub baby oil over affected area a few minutes to an hour before bath time
- wash affected area with baby wash
- rinse
- use soft baby brush on affected area
- wipe away flakes with damp cloth
