Cleanliness is Next to Godliness

Yesterday we had no internet. Neither Husband nor Comcast can explain why. I'm pretty sure God had something to do with it. He knew how badly I needed to clean my house. Since cleanliness is next to godliness, I'm sure he was pretty concerned. And since I have a clean house AND finally spent some one-on-one time with Him, I'm pretty sure that saying is 100% accurate.

I haven't been making time in my day for the One who created me. While I know that's the single most important and valuable thing I can do with my day (don't worry, Eliana, changing your dirty diapers is a close second), I allow email, facebook, and researching how ants can lift 50 times their body weight to come first. I run out of time for the One who saves me. I pretend like the few words I manage to utter to Him is enough to keep up a relationship and like playing an audio Bible in the background while I read about ants communicating through pheromones is enough to keep me spiritually aligned.

It's not.

So after I finished hand-writing this blog post (to be posted when the internet returned), I sat down with my face on the floor (a posture of submission) and listened. I read my Bible and listened. Then I spoke a few things that were on my mind and listened.

Today I have internet and I haven't yet taken time out to listen, read, or speak to God. Cutting off my hands sounds a bit extreme, but I did ask Husband if he would be upset if I smashed my laptop. The Bible says to cut off anything that causes you to sin (Mark 9:43). and correct me if I'm wrong but something that distracts you from God is pretty much causing you to sin. I'll give myself a few more days to get this under control before I smash poor Lappy.
