Merry Christmas: Year 3

These end-of-year posts are some of my favorites. It's great to reflect back on the year and take note of everything that has happened. It's even greater to read last year's post and note even more change and growth. One significant change for me this year has been losing 40 pounds.

me at the beginning of the year... unfortunately I don't have
a good recent pic so you'll just have to take my word for it.

And of course the reason behind that change:

Thankfully, she was not a 40 pound baby

So we increased our family size by 50% (i think my math is right?)
I guess that helps to account for the extra time we've spent investing in ourselves this year. Sometimes it's a bummer to miss out on things you can't do with a baby. But mostly it's a pleasure to stay home and snuggle with the two you love most in the world.

This year has been a lot like last year. Less homework, more house work, less work work. More smiles. More pictures. Less sleep, more crying (from whom, I won't say).

It's been a year of feeling somewhat unsettled with what we're doing (or not doing?). Rather than quickly changing something to quiet the questions, we've just been sitting with them. Which I think is one part wisdom and three parts laziness. Maybe we're just feeling settled for the first time and we're not used to or sure we like it.

Steven's work has stayed pretty much the same with the addition of changing some diapers and rocking a tiny human to sleep every now and again. He's also now an Elder at our church. I guess someone finally noticed how bald he's getting.

Sometimes he even does two jobs at once!

I took the first five months of the year to eat bon bons and sleep all day. As you can imagine, it was a bit of a rough transition back to working part time at the pregnancy center. I couldn't have done it if E didn't love hanging out with Gramma so much. We're all used to it now and enjoying the variation it gives to our weekly schedule. I've found that my rapport with clients has greatly increased now that I have some firsthand experience.

You can't tell from her face, but she really loves Gramma

And now, because I love them so, a few lists:

Some Things We Weren't Able to Figure out This Year:
Sleeping a solid 8 hours on a regular basis
Staying in a routine of daily devotions
The balance between too busy and hermits

Some Books We Enjoyed Together This Year:
Dad is Fat
Mere Christianity

Some Good Things Yet to Come This Year:
Visiting MALAWI and the people we love who live there

Merry Christmas, Friends!
May you feel God's grace and peace today and every day.

Love,
The Millers
