Eating Like a Pig No More

Well folks, the baby is officially weaned and I'm already regretting it because it means I have to stop eating like a pig.

It would not be far from the truth to say that losing weight while eating like a pig has been my favorite part of being a mom so far.

Other downsides to no longer nursing: I have to plan ahead and pack food for the baby. Fewer and shorter cuddles. I have to buy milk (or whatever milk substitute we settle on since she has inherited allergies I never even had). She no longer lifts up everybody's shirt in search of a snack. Oh wait, I guess that's more of a positive.

I know breastfeeding is kind of controversial. I really don't think it needs to be. Personally, I put feeding my baby first (it helps with survival and whatnot), but it's just barely above keeping others comfortable. There's almost always a private place to be found if you look hard enough. Except for on an airplane. But that's what loose clothing and nursing covers are for. And if you formula feed, well good for you. It's a much better choice than feeding your baby grape soda, which apparently some people do.

Anyways. Today is Saint Patrick's day and I can't decide if I should get a Shamrock shake on my way home from work or not. I'll have to exercise if I do...

Maybe I should just get pregnant again. Wut.

Speaking of which, you would not believe how many people say that to me or ask when we're planning to have another baby. Here's my ready-made response that I'm never brave enough to use: "Actually my husband and I have been talking about that. Would you like to join us some time to share your thoughts? What evenings good for you? We also have some financial questions we could run past you."

Usually I just smile and laugh nervously instead.
