As I write this, I'm looking up every sentence or two to watch my sweet girl.
She is currently laying on her belly on the kitchen table and drawing all over Mommy's work papers with her pencil.
She's seriously intent but joy-filled at the same time. Not a day goes by that I don't just sit and stare at her. I can't get over how beautiful, how funny, how clever she is. She makes me sing and dance more than I ever thought I would - not any better than I ever thought I would, unfortunately. Smiling and laughing were already some of my favorite things, but she has taken those to a whole new level. It is truly a joy to be her mom. And also a huge responsibility to shape this little life well.

Which brings me to my own mom. Thank you, Mom, for shaping me well. Thank you for always being there no matter what. Thank you for loving me with your whole self.
It's wonderful to become a mom and start to realize some of the things I misunderstood as a child. I remember her telling me this day would come. I wasn't so sure. She, of course, was right.
Happy Mother's Day
