To Google, With Love --A Young Mom

Dear Google,

Thank you...
I don't know how kids survived before you.

E is glad she doesn't have to find out about life without Google
...for answers in the early days when I NEEDED to know if green poop meant my precious baby had colon cancer. The many color-coded charts of various shapes and sizes were really helpful.

...for calming me down every time her temp. got above 99.0 and I feared she would suffer brain damage from overheating. The pediatrician would be sick of me if it weren't for you.

...for explaining countless times which first foods to feed her. When. And how. And with what spices.

...for giving me ideas on how to be a fun, educational mom.

...for saving me countless hours of having to read through medical texts and parenting books to find the answers.

...for being there in the middle of the night when I was bored, grumpy, borderline-insane but could not sleep either because she wasn't sleeping or because I was sure she would stop breathing in her sleep.

...for trying to teach effective methods for sleep and potty training. None of them have worked yet, but I don't blame you.

...for having those helpful charts handy on infant Tylenol and Benadryl dosage. I don't know why it's so hard to remember, but it is. I doubt the pharmacist would've been as patient.

...for storing pictures, videos, and blog posts that hep document these years as they fly by.

...for saving me humiliating calls to Poison Control by informing me that packing peanuts, lady bugs, and Christmas cacti are non-toxic. And going beyond the call to tell me that other moms have asked the same questions.

...for not judging me by the random things I ask you.

You may not make me a better mom, but you make me appear to be a better mom to all the people I would otherwise have called in desperation, confusion, and curiosity.

I can't thank you enough.
Never stop being you--my kids might not survive.

Love,
A Young Mom
