Just when you thought Foto Friday was gone forever!
I bring you: Our First Family Vacation!
Wildwood, NJ (in the off season, of course #miserlife)
On the way to the beach, we stopped at a grocery store where everybody with molars got to pick a treat.

...and help to buy it (#madness).
Treats of choice: string cheese, Lucky Charms, Oreos, Cheez-Its
(all generic brands, of course! #miserlife)

We unloaded as fast as we could and ran (no, walked) to the boardwalk!
p.s. they do construction in the off season

The first day was cold and windy, but we found a sheltered place near a dun and had our fill of sand ;)
I'd never been to a boardwalk beach before, but I'm guessing this is considered deserted!
p.s. all the boardwalk shops (and the local convenience stores) are closed in the off season.
We felt like we were walking through a movie set - lots of renovations and preparations for the upcoming season.
The next day was warmer and filled with teeny, tiny, biting bugs. But we finally realized that we were allowed to go across the dump truck highway to be near the water where the breeze would blow the bugs away.

PRO TIP: swim diapers are no longer necessary.
He sat in the water all day (in a normal Target brand diaper) and was still dry!
Between the baby crawling head-first (which is the usual direction when crawling) into the ocean, and these dump trucks zooming up and down the beach just 10 feet behind us, we had a lot to keep an eye on!

A PIZZA PLACE ON THE BOARDWALK OPENED JUST IN TIME FOR DINNER!! we were sitting on a bench watching them fling our dough in the air and waving to the trolley - which also came out to play on our last day!
On the way home already - that moment when the van is too quiet and you turn around to find 3 out of 3 have fallen asleep! 🙌
Since our vacation was all of one day, we decided to make the two travel days more fun by adding some fun stops!

In Summary:
v. fun.
would recommend.
definitely not the way most people vacation, but it was our style and we enjoyed it.
side note: maybe don't go back to the beach by ourselves until the kids are old enough to wash themselves #sandfordays #outnumbered
