level up

Level up: "To advance from one level to the next within a game."
I'm bad at computer/video games. Ask my siblings. They'll all tell you. But since they all enjoy these games so much, I [used to] try to play anyways in order to connect with them. However, since I'm at such a disadvantage, I'd often ask my sister to complete a level for me so that I could finally move on to the next one. The problem with that? I couldn't pass the next one because I hadn't learned whatever new skill I needed from the previous level.

This is a good analogy for how I've been feeling about life lately. I see what's coming in the future and just want to automatically level up because that grass looks greener than what I've got. What I need to keep reminding myself is that I'm not already at that stage in life for a reason! There is something I need to learn in this stage before I get to graduate to the next one. God knows what He's doing and He's got a path marked out for me with things to learn along the way. I need to learn to be patient and content with where I am instead of always trying to skip ahead.
