Here's another fun little exercise to learn a little more about yourself. If you missed out on the first exercise I posted a few weeks ago, click here.
Get out a piece of paper and your writing utensil of choice.
Now. Imagine the following scenario: You are about to take a pill that will change who you are - your personality, how you make decisions, what you value, etc. Before you take the pill, you may make a list of everything you want the new you to remember and obtain about the old you. This list will be given to someone you trust who will not be taking the pill. They agree to hold you accountable and make sure you act in accordance with what you have written on your paper.
Go.
Obviously, there is no pill. But this list will highlight the aspects of who you are that are most important to you. The attributes that define you to your core. The characteristics designed in you by your Creator.
Hold on to these things. Don't change what's on your list in order to impress others. Don't look at other peoples' lists and judge them or yourself by it. We've all been specially designed by a loving God to do His will. Everybody's role in doing His will is different and will require unique skills and attributes in order to accomplish it. Focus on being who God made you to be first. Once your identity in Him is firm, look to help others realize who God made them to be.
*This exercise and lesson is not my own; it is paraphrased from last night's G-core (a girl's Bible study) lesson lead by Brandie Stonge :)
