I prefer to look at it in a positive light and call myself blessed.
Why am I blessed, you ask?
Because when I look around my apartment the only things I see that I bought are the couch, laptops, and toothbrushes.
The area rugs, settee, kitchen table, games, silverware, house plants, blankets, and desks were all given to us along with so much more!
For our baby, we have purchased zero clothing items and next to zero baby gear stuffs.
From things I've posted on this blog alone, we've been offered (and accepted!) a microwave, bed (complete with frame, box spring, mattress, and TWO sets of sheets!), and brick of sharp cheddar cheese.
Often we would rather do without than spend the money on material goods. And apparently others would rather give us stuff than see us go without. It's kind of a win-win. I like to think that we're helping people clear out their clutter - but really it's just us doing the double winning.
You could say we just happened to know a lot of people with a lot of stuff they didn't want anymore. You could also say it's because for the past three consecutive years I've hit major milestones at which people shower you with gifts - marriage, graduation, baby. But what it really is is God providing for our needs - even more than he provides for the flowers and birds (Matt 6:25-34).
