#TBT: Journal Entries

I was reading through my old journals the other day and enjoying some chuckles at the expense of my 13 year-old self. In honor of TBT, I'll share an entry with you. Maybe it'll become a Thursday trend.

Apparently I was a pretty devout kid. In my defense, this journal was given to me in Sunday school and was mostly used as a prayer journal or for taking notes during my devotion time.

"Lord, I don't understand.
The Good Book says (I think) that it is more important to spend time with you than to do anything else. But my parents tell me 'don't stay up.'
One of the Ten Commandments is 'Honor your father and mother.' Or 'Children obey your parents.'
So do I just say like Jesus said in a respectful way, 'Mom, Dad, which is more important being with God or going to bed?' Or do I find a better time to be with you? Shouldn't I always be with you? Maybe you could help me to be with you in my sleep too? But don't haunt me please! That's not what I mean by 'be with me!'"
My favorite parts:
"The Good Book"
"Don't haunt me please!" ...??? wow.
 How snarky I am.
