This is not a craft blog - mostly because I am not a crafty person! But when I find a craft cheap enough and easy enough that even I can pull it off, I like to share it! I've been meaning to share this for the past 3 years - since the summer before our wedding when I was busily making all my own decorations (not without help from my trusty sidekicks!). Since wedding season is coming around again, I figured it'd be a good time to finally get around to sharing this simple craft. We used it to make the center pieces for our reception and kept a few of these cheerful flowers to brighten up our apartment and remind us of The Best Day.
Step 1: Draw a spiral

Step 2: Cut along the lines Step 3: Roll. Start at the outside end.
Step 4: Poke wire stem through bottom of flower. Use hot glue to secure.
Materials:
- Paper
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Stem wire
- Hot glue gun
- Pliers (optional)
- Styrofoam (optional)
- Vase of some sort
Notes:
Your flowers will vary in size depending on how you draw your spiral. Thicker spirals will make bigger flowers. Longer spirals will make more of a filling. You just have to experiment with a few.
Once you've tried a few you don't really even need to draw the spirals. And the pencil marks do show up if you don't cut right on the line, but luckily you can erase. I recommend erasing before you roll the flowers. ;)
You can find stem wire at any craft store. I think I ordered mine from Amazon. And I got way too much so if you want some, let me know!!
We all have those crafty friends who own their own hot glue guns. The nice thing about crafty friends is that they love doing crafts with friends! So you don't need to go out and buy your own glue gun. Just ask your crafty friend.
To keep the flowers sticking up nicely, you can purchase some Styrofoam from any craft store and cut it to fit in the bottom of your vase.
I spray painted veggie and soup cans to make my vases.
Hint: Kerosene works well for getting off stubborn label goop.
Enjoy!
